Act 9: Freedom At LastThis is a featured page

It was night time, the stars twinkling and shining in the night sky. A strong breeze blew across the trees, their leaves swaying and a silent music was produced as the wind rushed through holes in their trunks. The grass bowed onto the dirt and soil in all directions as the wind came at it from a different angle each time. Crickets chirped in the very tall grass that laid hidden in the darkness of the forest, with fireflies lighting up only fractions of the darkness. The night was warm, the wind being the only thing that cooled any living creature in the forest, making it a comfortable atmosphere.

Far from the sandy path where Speedix's grave was, deep in the forest towards a small mountain, crashed a waterfall and waited a large, still pond. The water was fresh and clean, reflecting the stars in the sky, and revealing its cool blue color that was as dark as the night itself. A camp fire was lit nearby, its flame sizzling and reaching as high as it could, burning at the wood it needed in order to stay lit. Firon sat on the beach that surrounded the pond, his back leaning against a rock that struck out of the sand like a thump, his eyes half-closed and his body half-sleepy. He couldn't fall to sleep from what he had witnessed all this time, the truth being too much for him. Everything had gone horribly wrong, all because of something nobody knew about, and he felt like it was his fault that everything had happened so horribly

Becoming an exile that was never to be a freedom fighter again, being nearly killed by a metallic copy of himself, being hunted by his brother who had lost his free will, and killing his brother in the end, was all just enough for the gray hedgehog to bare. Even before those events, was the discovery of the chaos emerald from the fish robot that was probably the reason for Demonica's apperance, and the near-death of Violet. He shuddered and tried to get rid of the thoughts that plagued his mind, only to curse the fact they clanged to his mind disobediently. He sighed, tried to close his eyes, only to be awakened again by the nightmarish thoughts. He was about to give up and go through the night with no sleep, until he heard Violet's faint and sleepily voice behind him.

"Firon, are you still awake?" the purple hedgehog walked up quietly to the gray hedgehog's side from their camp site, leaning against the rock next to him. Firon's eyes shot open, looking at her with pleasure, as if he wanted this to happen. He threw his arms back, resting his head on the palms of his gloved hands, staring off at the pond that still shined dimly in the night light.

"Yeah, I just can't fall asleep..." he replied quietly, with Violet only able to hear him because of the silence that filled the air. She moved in closer to the gray hedgehog's side, trying to slip her arms around his shoulders. Firon was curious about what she was doing, making a strange look at her.

"What are you doing?" he asked in confusion, not making any move to keep her away. Violet stopped her approach, withdrawing her arms in embarrassment. Firon's curiosity made him wonder, to know what she was trying to do, causing him to lay his left hand on one of Violet's hands that laid out on the sand. Violet blushed and didn't know what to say, simply staring at the gray hedgehog as he stared back, his right hand still behind his head. She finally found courage to continue speaking, turning back to the view of the pond and waterfall.

"Do you think we'll ever get back?" she asked in wonder, her hand feeling comfortable with Firon's hand placed on top of it. Firon thought for a while, nodding in disappointment. He sighed once more, turning his eyes to the pond.

"I don't think so...we're outcasts, we're no longer freedom fighters...the war isn't over yet, that means Dr. Eggman and his robots still control our planet...not to mention the freedom fighters aren't with us but against us now...all because of that entity, Demonica..." Firon answered sadly, closing his eyelids, which only covered half his eyes as he still could not close them all the way. Violet moved closer to the gray hedgehog, lifting her arms and finally putting them around Firon's shoulders. Curiosity came back to the gray hedgehog as he stared at her confusingly.

"What are you doing?" he asked the same question once more, this time feeling a bit more comfortable with Violet embracing him, but still confused. Violet smiled and giggled a bit, blushing deeply as she tried to think of an answer. Firon felt awkward as he waited, his heart beat rising as he got a bit nervous. To ease his nervousness, he wrapped an arm around Violet's shoulders and pulled her gently closer, making the purple hedgehog blush even more deeply as she stared back at Firon, his eyes showing everything she liked about him in them.

"Trying to make you feel better-" Violet replied quickly, giving Firon a quick kiss on the cheek. Firon's face burnt as he blushed even more then the purple hedgehog did, his heart beat raising fast, but then slowing down as calmed himself. He breathed in slowly, staring at Violet with an idea in mind. He looked up, pretending he was seeing something that was truely amazing.

"What's that?" he asked casually, trying to sound like it was too amazing for anyone to see. Violet looked up towards the sky, trying to locate the presumed object Firon had asked about. In no time at all, Firon gave Violet a quick kiss on her cheek, the purple hedgehog finally realizing it was a trick, but a good one, smiling at him. Firon smiled childishly, laughing a bit. Violet laughed with him, making both hedgehogs feel better inside, the nightmarish thoughts that once plagued them gone for good, at least for now. Soon, their laughter died down, as their eyes met and both embraced each other. Both were smiling nervously, and both were blushing, but both had courage to speak.

"I love you..." Firon said quietly to Violet, still keeping his courage as he felt himself blush hard. Violet giggled in excitement for a while, before stopping to speak.

"I love you to," both hedgehogs closed their eyes, more then halfway, and drew in closer to one another. Neither of them hesitated, and soon, their lips met, and they kissed. It seemed to last for eternity as their love for each other was displayed by this one first kiss. The pond still reflected the stars in the night sky, but then a new object appeared on its mirror image. A full moon right in the center of the pond, shining more brightly and bigger then any star on the pond's mirror or even the night sky. The full moon made this night a special one, even after all the two hedgehogs had been through, it symbolized that their love would last forever, and that nothing would tear them apart...

Early the next day, in the bright morning sun, within the capital building of Robotroplis, was Dr. Eggman. The evil dictator sat on his throne on the highest level of the capital building, his robots set everywhere, guarding their master. He looked out of the large window that took up nearly the whole front wall of the throne room, seeing above the smog clouds that infested the city, spoting the Great Forest not far from the walls of his heavily-polluted city. He frowned in disgust, as if seeing a live parasite that he believed sucked the life out of everything, or, at least the life out of his dreams of total world conquest.

He sat impatiently in his chair, a deadly blood thirst to destroy the Great Forest and the freedom fighters that residing within him, and the slavery of every last mobian he knew existed. He smiled at his dream, but still frowned disgustfully at the reality he saw. Everything was quiet and boring, silence filling every inch of the throne room, until the dictator heard a loud thud outside the throne door. The dictator stared at the doorway, seeing a damaged guard robot rush its way through the door, bashing the double doors across and sending them into the walls to their sides. It seemed to be in panic, making the dictator very curious.

"What are you doing here?" he asked in an loud, booming, and annoyed voice, that seemed to scare the fear-filled robot as it stopped in its tracks before its master.

"Master Eggman! There's an intruder in the capital building! He is destroying everything! You must escape before he reaches the throne room!" the robot yelled out in warning, jumping in fear as an explosion was heard and shook the entire building. Dr. Eggman looked out the window, seeing large amounts of black smoke raising from the level below. The dictator didn't hesitate and ran for the door on the opposite side of the throne room, presumably an elevator that led to the rooftop.

Before he even tried however, an explosion blew open the throne door, throwing the double doors across the throne room and into several robots, destroying them instantly. A green hedgehog then flew in with amazingly fast speed, throwing a few energy blasts at the door that Dr. Eggman was heading for, as well as a few guard robots that tried to get in his way, their metal bodies falling before the hedgehog's wrath. The energy blasts impacted the solid metal of the door, shattering it within an explosion that cut off Dr. Eggman's only escape route.

"No!" the dictator yelled out in anger, looking at the intruder the robot guard had mentioned, seeing it to be the chaos form of Firon the Hedgehog, who floated not too far from him, his fists radiating with chaos energy that seemed unlimited and flowing to every inch of his body. The green hedgehog stared the dictator down with extreme hatred, floating closer and closer until the dictator was up against the wall.

"After all this time, the war will finally ends today. I could sense your little dream to the rule world and enslave the mobian race...how pathetic of you to even think of...well, at least you won't be around to plague us anymore..goodbye, Dr. Eggman..." Firon said coldly and hatefully as he raised his hands to the dictator's face, releasing the charged energy within his palms. The dictator screamed with every last bit of pain and breath he held within him, but his calls for help and his screams of death would go unanswered as the green hedgehog burned him without mercy. With the last few seconds of his life gone, Dr. Eggman died as his lungs became burnt, and his evil heart being slain. As the green hedgehog drew his hands back, he kicked the dead body of the dictator, using a last bit of energy to engulf his body into a flame. Firon then made his way towards the window, breaking it with a simple punch, jumping out and gliding for a short while, then finally flying off back to the Great Forest from whence he came.

The war was finally over, and the nightmarish thoughts that once lived within Firon, died along with the dictator's disappearing soul. It was all over at last...
