Act 7: City InvasionThis is a featured page

Smoke rose from Robotroplis's front wall, its destroyed ruins littering and tipping over several buildings. The smog in the air made the city dark and creepy, but the darkness didn't block out the light from the sun as the freedom fighter army marched into the city, continuing their battle with the robot army. City robots, stronger then the robots that attacked before outside the city, used devastating explosives to fight off the freedom fighters, but some of them had their weapons backfire on them as Sonic, Fists, and Speedix kicked and punched the flying missiles with extreme force without hitting the warheads back at their robot carriers.

Robot parts flew everywhere, explosions tore the city streets and sections of buildings to pieces, and smoke blackened the hole in the destroyed north wall, making it seem like a mystic force was keeping them in their state of conquest and war.

Speedix and Sonic used speedy and powerful kicks of fury to defeat their foes, as well as their spin dash attacks to bash right through the warheads of incoming missiles that could not be deflected. Fists used his unbelievable strength to punch the missiles right back at the robot legions, destroying hundreds, perhaps thousands of foes with no sweat.

"Having any problems, Sonic?" Speedix asked with a loud tempered voice, punching viciously at a metallic head, with its red lifeless eyes going blank as it became totally useless like scrap heap.

"Not even one! Eggman's robots are a piece of cake!" Sonic replied in his cool manner, kicking and punching with intense speed of fury and an attitude of show off. Many robot ruins laid out behind him, all of their heads and chests impacted severely, more robots joining them as Sonic continued his kicking and punching.

"Let's just hope they get to Eggman before its too late," Speedix replied, finishing off the last robot in a legion, charging towards another group of robots to continue his rage...

Firon jumped off of the Fire Wing, falling from several meters high. He landed without a sound, landing on his right knee and left foot, recovering from the impact and standing at full height. He looked up, seeing the eager faces of Rod and Striker, who smiled in a worried manner, encouraging Firon to go on.

The gray hedgehog nodded, grinning with determination and dignity. The Fire Wing then flew off, over Firon, and deep into the dark smog clouds above. Firon then looked towards s long highway he saw before him, with its distance blocked off by smog and dark smoke. Without hesitation, Firon ran at top speed down the highway, leaving a nearly-invisible trail of footsteps in his wake.

The highway seemed to go on forever through the clouds of polluted smog, so endless it seemed pointless to run through it. Buildings seemed to repeat their patterns on the sidelines, as if Firon were traveling in a circle. But the gray hedgehog knew that looks could be deceiving, and so, he kept running at his fastest speed. It wasn't too long until he heard a faint voice coming from a small black-colored speaker, attached to a arm that hanged to his right ear by a ring.

"Firon, have you spotted Eggman's capital building yet?" the familiar voice of Violet asked, speaking loud enough for the gray hedgehog to hear through his intense speed break.

"Unfortunately, no...this smog and smoke isn't making anything easy..." Firon replied clearly, keeping his pace up.

"There should be a turn coming up to you right," Violet said hurriedly, with Firon reacting with equal quickness of his own speed as he turned at the last moment to another highway.

"Alright, where next?" Firon asked, keeping his eyes open for any new open highway passages.

"That's all you need to go through, the capital building should be down the highway you're on," Violet answered, shutting off her communicator, with Firon doing the same.

Firon's speed tore up the highway behind him, his powerful sonic booms destroying the glass panels spread throughout the structure of the highway itself. He went at his top speed and didn't look back, nothing seemed to distract him from his mission and he intended to stay on task. This was the last fight and he knew he couldn't let the freedom fighters down. He couldn't let his planet down. He couldn't let his love down.

It wasn't too long before Firon began seeing thicker smog and taller, darker skyscrapers that tore into the smog clouds. It was hard to breathe in the polluted air, forcing Firon to suck in his breath to continue on without suffocating. Sound seemed lost in his stream of speed, but at the tip of his ear he heard a click. He turned his head slightly to his left, then to his right, then left again. He heard the click again, this time louder. He turned his head slightly to the left and right again, becoming annoyed by the new noise that seemed to be present.

Soon, the clicking noise stopped, but Firon was not relaxed yet. A booming noise replaced the click, getting louder and louder. Firon turned his head all the way left, seeing a metallic figure covered in shadow that resembled a hedgehog, but was a bit too far behind to be identified. It made several more boom noises until it finally caught up to the gray hedgehog, revealing itself to be Metal Firon. Firon's eyes grew big as he became shocked at this discovery, but calmed himself as he ran faster then before, with his metal replica doing the same.

Firon became impressed with the improved skills of his metal look-alike, and turned his head until he saw the robot in full view, with it repeating the same action.

"So now we can get down to the real fight...the last Firon standing will be the winner," the gray hedgehog remarked loudly, even though the increased volume wasn't necessary for the metal hedgehog's powerful hearing. It beeped as a response, speaking to the mind of its real life counterpart. Firon understood strangely.

"What? You're saying there's only room for one Firon in this world and one of us has to go?" Firon asked in surprise, with Metal Firon beeping and nodding as its final answer.

"Well, I agree!" the two hedgehogs jumped and impacted each other with spikes of steel, spin dashing at even faster velocity then their feet ever did, ramming each other with extreme force. Everything around them seemed to turn into streaks of lines as their speed increased, and violence began breaking out. Shock waves vibrated from each impact of their spin dashes, turning them into lines of color of gray and red. One impact shattered their ongoing routine, forcing Metal Firon to fall out out of its spin dash and return to its running form, as well as Firon himself.

Both hedgehogs canceled their spin dash attacks, but ran as fast as the speed of light, or at least near it, towards each other. They bent their heads like buffaloes preparing to ram one another. Soon, they struck, their foreheads touching.

The power of the impact was so intense, energy was released at a high rate, creating a shock wave explosion that shattered the buildings in the radius. Firon pressed harder and harder on his metal counterpart, but it proved even stronger then before.

"You just don't give up don't you?" Firon said in a excited voice, pressing as hard as his head could. Metal Firon pressed with equal strength, soon making them both push each other into the air. They both kicked one another powerfully, pushing against each other back onto the highway. They both landed, winded badly, onto the cold metal road. Metal Firon's chest was damaged critically, with Firon suffering a broken arm and rib. They both lifted their heads slightly, staring each other down with hateful eyes of fury and anger.

Firon attempted to get up but failed, as he could not lift himself without the support of his arm, with the pain of his broken rib further completing things. Metal Firon got to its feet with less problems and walked at a fast, inhuman pace towards the injured hedgehog. It lifted its hand, charging it with an unknown energy, preparing to strike Firon with a killing blow. Soon it stood over the gray hedgehog, staring down with lifeless, cold red eyes that glowed.

Just before the metal menace was ready to finish off his warm-blooded copy, an explosion struck out of nowhere, knocking both Metal and Firon to the sides of the highway. Fire had broken out and scorched the whole other side of the highway, with Metal Firon falling into the fire, burning. Its charged energy backfired, combining with the fire like gun powder and setting off like a fuse, blowing it to pieces before more could be done. Firon avoided this last explosion, falling to the ground in the process.

After a few minutes of recovering, and going through the intense sweating of heat increase, Firon stood up from the suddenly warm, metal highway road. He tried moving his arm, but it snapped into pieces as a response, forcing it to become totally useless and wobbly.

"I guess one arm will do..." Firon positioned himself into a sprinting stance, then, at the last few seconds of concentration, blasted off in a speed of light, disappearing in a flash without a sound.
