Everything was quiet, and all that was seen was darkness. The only thing that could be heard was silent breathing, as that was all Firon could do. There was pain in several areas of his body, but strangely he couldn't feel any of it. He slowly began to open his eyes, as a blurry image came into his view. He could hear a fainted voice nearby, then it became familiar as his eyes became more clear, and his ears less deaf.
Soon the blurry image was gone, and he could see Violet near him, tending to the wounds nearly everywhere on his body. He groaned and tried to sit up.
"What happened?" He asked weakly. Violet immedently made him lay back down. Firon's head felt like it cracked, making Firon yell out in pain. Violet put her hand on his forehead, which surprisingly softened the pain.
"Calm down, you took quite a beating from that robot," she said to him, picking up his arm. Firon stared at it, and noticed that it was colored black and red, with skin peeling off. He tried to suck in air to avoid yelling out in pain as Violet exiamed it. Blood was dripping out of the open holes in his arm, and black pieces of dead skin feel off.
"The explosion must of burnt your arm badly...I'll go ahead and patch it up," she explained to him, pulling out medical tape from her mission pack, and wrapping it around Firon's damaged arm.
Firon didn't feel any pain this time, but he felt sick that all of his blood in his arm was falling out. He wondered how he could even move his hand. He looked at the unwrapped part of his arm, and saw all of the skin fall off, revealing a completely flashly red arm, covered in nothing but muscle and blood. Firon felt even more sick and looked away as Violet finished her work. He felt the last bit of medical tape strap onto his arm, and he sat up until he could see Violet's face clearly.
"I don't quiet remember what happened...where's Fists?" Firon asked in confusion, putting a hand to his forehead, trying hard to remember. Violet helped the gray hedgehog to his feet, staying close by.
"He's sleeping right now, I had to patch him up to, but he's fine right now..." she lunged forward and hugged Firon gently, smiling "But I'm glad your okay...I thought you were gonna die in that explosion..." Firon put a hand on her shoulder and smiled.
"Yeah I might of, if you weren't there...you're a really great friend ya know that?" he winked at her and grinned. Violet blushed, and kept her arms around Firon, keeping her head low to avoid letting the gray hedgehog see her red-glowing cheeks.
"How come you ain't looking at me?" Firon asked in cursiousity, using his hand to gently grip and lift her chin, until her face met his. He could see she was embrassed, but it wasn't anything bad, he could tell. Firon smiled again and Violet blushed harder. She tried to look back at the ground until Firon spoke.
"What's the matter, don't wanna show your beautiful face or something?" the question made Violet become even more nervous. She literally felt herself shake as Firon put his good arm around her shoulders. She lifted her head and smiled nervously. Firon still had his smile on his face, looking off towards the trees. It was a bright, sunny day, so he could see far through the open paths in the forest.
"Follow me, I have something to show you," he told Violet, removing his arm from her shoulders and picking up his mission pack. Violet felt confused, but did as she was told.
Firon walked carefully through the many rocks and branches that struck up from the dirt and grassy ground, turning around a few times to make sure Violet was with him. The purple hedgehog kept her pace up in order to stay a few inches within reach of the gray hedgehog, as both of them moved to more open, less grassy paths.
Soon, both of them walked out of the forest completely, and ended up on a sandy beach near a river. The river was full of clear water, with small waves crashing onto the beach. Firon dropped his mission pack on the sand, and sat down near it. He snaked his hand inside of it and pulled out a pair of sunglasses, putting them on and looking towards the shiny surface of the river. He patted the empty sand on his other side, telling Violet to sit next to him. She quietly did so and sat close to the gray hedgehog, looking at him. Firon stared back at her and lifted his shades until they stayed positioned on his forehead.
"What do you think?" he asked, pointing towards the river. Violet glanced at the river, seeing the gleaming and shining surface of the cool, clean water. The water rushed gently like a mountain stream along the river bank, and schools of fishes could be seen just near the surface of the water. Violet looked back at Firon.
"It's beautiful, I didn't even know such a place existed...since the rule of Dr. Eggman..." she answered, looking back at the river. Firon laughed silently, then stared at the river himself.
"I found it one time while I was searching the forest, I decided to keep a secert, so I could have some alone time when I needed it...its no longer a secert now though,"
"Sorry..." Violet replied sadly. Firon turned his view to her in confusion, laughing again.
"No need to be sorry, I led you here anyway...because I thought you would like to see a peaceful place for once," Firon explained, lying on the sandy beach with his hands behind his head.
"How come you brought me here anyway? I'm grateful, but I'm just wondering," she looked at the tired gray hedgehog, seeing him think for a while, as he hummed to himself. He then finally spoke, his eyes closed.
"Well, I just thought I'd like to bring a very speical person to a very speical place, makes sense don't it?" Firon answered, turning his head slightly until he could see her face. Violet smiled, and laid next to Firon, getting real close to the gray hedgehog until one of her arms was on top of his chest. Firon's confusion returned as he grew another question in his mind.
"How come you're so close to me again like that other night?" he asked, not bothering to pick her arm off of him. She kept her smile, giggling a bit, then answered.
"Because I feel safe around you," Firon smiled in response, putting his bandaged arm around Violet, and pulling her close. She moaned childishly, giggling a bit more. Firon could tell she enjoyed being near him. But before he could ask any further questions, he heard her yawn, then fall to sleep with gentle breathing following.
He decided not to wake her up, and kept her close to him. He looked at the sun as it was just about to set on the horizon, and began to feel sleeply. He yawned and closed his eyes, the sound of the gentle water streaming in the river drifting him to sleep.
Soon, everything went black, and all that was heard was the water, and Violet's soft breathing.
