Firon landed on solid ground, he could not see anything as darkness surrounded him. He was holding Violet, who held tightly on his shoulders to avoid falling onto the ground. Firon could hear the fast movement of Speedix moving towards him in the blackness that filled his eyes.

"Firon, are you here?" Speedix asked in wonder, looking in every direction to no avail.

"Yeah, I brought Violet with us just in case," Firon replied, his voice echoing in the emptiness of the very deep hole they were in "Someone turn on the lights around here..."

"I'm already on it...just let me stand up so I can get something out of my mission pack," Violet told Firon, who slowly and gently placed her on the uneven ground. It took a while for her to reach in her mission pack and search for what she was looking for. After a few minutes of waiting in the lifeless, cold darkness, Violet finally pulled out her flashlight and flicked the switch on it.

As soon as light surrounded the three hedgehogs, they all looked in horror on what was around them. Bones, rotten meat, and dead bodies lay scattered throughout the ground. They appeared to be in a huge chamber, that was very huge from every corner. In every inch of the chamber was a dead body of a certain creature or something that resembled a Mobian.

"What could of caused this..." Violet asked in shock, holding her empty hand to her chest. Firon regained himself as he began studying the dead bodies of fallen Mobians.

"Whatever happened, it could of been a war that happened long ago...the Chaos War," Firon answered, keeping his eyes on the lifeless, crippled forms.

"You're right, long ago when the Chaos Emeralds were first formed, terrible wars broke out between almost every Mobian on the planet. Many different species fought, and the hedgehogs were ruling the battlefield because of their enhanced speed and strength. However, when all seven chaos emeralds were used in the center of the planet, it cut Mobius in half, one half taking most of the hedgehog race with it, with the rest of the Mobians on the other half. Over time both halves grew into full size spheres and into their own planets...this must have been one of the battlefields, in a royal temple where a chaos emerald would be," Speedix reported, seemingly searching around the chamber "Which means a chaos emerald would be sitting on a shrine somewhere in this chamber,"

"We should start searching then," Violet suggested, turning her flashlight to full power "You two get your flashlights out and search the chamber for any signs of a shrine or something that was used to preserve a chaos emerald," Firon and Speedix nodded, unpacking their mission packs and taking out their flashlights. Violet began walking around in the chamber as the two speedy hedgehogs took their time.

"What do you think wiped them all out?" Firon asked, seemingly confused and curious.

"Perhaps they tried using a chaos blast or something, but couldn't control its power, thus it probably forced this chamber to go underground and make the residents inside, starve to death," Speedix answered, pulling out and turning on his flashlight, Firon doing the same. The two of them began searching the chamber, slowly moving across the dead-infested floor.

"Hey guys! I found something!" Violet yelled from the otherside of the chamber, her voice echoing loud enough for both Firon and Speedix to hear her. Both hedgehogs looked in the direction of her voice, seeing what was a giant tall structure with a red chaos emerald floating on top of it. The emerald glowed with a ruby-red color as Violet's flashlight traced itself on it.

"Hurry and grab it then, the Freedom Fighters are gonna start getting' worried if we're gone too long," Firon ordered her, pointing at the emerald. The chaos emerald sparkled a white-red glow as a respone.

"Alright, just wait a second," Violet replied as she climbed the stairs of the shrine, her empty hand outstretched to grab the chaos emerald when close enough. Speedix only watched carefully, mumbling words under his breath.

"If no one controlled the chaos emerald's power and the chaos emerald took control of the chamber, that means...oh no...Violet don't grab it!" his warning was heard too late as Violet's fingers touched the red chaos emerald. Soon the whole chamber shook violently, rocks falling from the crumbling ceiling. Firon became struck with fear as the chamber began falling apart, but before he could start run to the shrine to defend Violet, the dead bodies began rising from the floor, taking on a new undead life. One of them grabbed Firon's arms, halting the hedgehog before he could even start walking.

"The chaos emerald is a trigger! Pulling it will unleash its control on everything in this chamber!" Speedix yelled in alarm, jumping into the air while preparing a spin dash attack. Firon used his mighty strength to pull free of the dead creature's grip, running quickly through the uprising dead horde to Violet. Soon Firon was on top of the shrine with Violet, quickly grabbing the red chaos emerald and slinging it inside his mission pack. Speedix began attacking the dead creatures, slicing each one in his path in half but to no avail as the halves of the dead creatures formed back together.

"These things are unkillable!" Speedix exclaimed, stopping his assault and running for the shrine to join Violet and Firon. Speedix quickly halted himself, standing in front of Violet in his attack position.

"Any ideas on how to escape?" Firon asked, not letting his guard down as he positioned himself in his attack stance.

"Only one...we fight," The dead creatures then charged forward, with whatever weapons they had pointing forward as Violet, Firon, and Speedix prepared to defend themselves...for their lives.
