Snow filled the view of Tails' eyes, as he drove his snow transport through the 10-inch tal snow. Nothing but white, powdery snow covered the surface, with even more of it falling from the heavens, quickly at certain moments, then slow. Everyone in the snow transport wore warm clothing, their armor over their clothing to avoid letting the cold metal touch their skin. Their fur added to the heat, to make them warmer.

Firon's team: Tails, Knuckles, Violet, Rod, Striker, Speedix, and himself, were on their way to one of the mountains in search of a chaos emerald, in the location on Mobius known as the South Pole. Everything in this region was either ice or snow, with some plant life growing and withstanding the cold chill of the winter storms, which raged constantly in the sky.

"How much further until we reach the mountain?" Firon asked in curiosity. Violet turned to him, holding her scanner in her gloved hands. She opened up a map on her scanner, seeing a red dot blink on one of the irregular circles on the screen, which stood for mountains. She looked into the gray hedgehog's eyes, holding her scanner in front of her for him to see it.

"The mountain isn't too far from us, just another mile or so, and we should be at the bottom of it," she explained, with Firon nodding in acceptance. Rod and Striker sat in the back, getting themselves ready. Personally, both of them wanted to impress the team leader, Firon. They both knew that, the gray hedgehog was the toughest and fastest of the group, with leadership that surpassed even that of Sonic the Hedgehog's. Speedix, their friend, had taught them everything they needed to know in order to become good soldiers, but he also told them how he gained Firon's respect. Both of them were very nervous, but kept to themselves to avoid embarrassment.

Speedix sat next to Tails, acting as a co-pilot, making sure nothing was in the way so that they wouldn't crash. He wore special warning goggles and, combined with his sharp eyesight, the snow transport was literally safe from crashing. Knuckles sat behind him, in the middle seat, with Firon and Violet. The red echidna didn't wear much warm clothing, but the cold didn't seem to bother him. His eyes carried a sense of determination and boldness, as if he really wanted to find the chaos emeralds, to end the war against Eggman. Firon crossed his arms and kept his back against the chair, his mission pack hanging from one of his hands, with a chaos emerald in the other. Violet saw the chaos emerald, and stared at its center for a while.

"Why are you bringing a chaos emerald, when we're already looking for one?" she asked in confusion. Firon's chaos emerald glowed a bright, lime-green color, causing Violet to shield her eyes. Firon grinned a bit, uncrossing his arms and throwing the chaos emerald into his mission pack. He looked into her beautiful purple eyes, as she withdrew her hands.

"I brought a chaos emerald, cause if I remember correctly, the chaos emeralds are like magnets, so they attract each other. The closer any of them get to each other, the brighter they glow. So I was planning to use my chaos emerald as a tracking device, to find the chaos emerald we're currently looking for," Firon answered, still grinning. Violet smiled a bit, looking back at her scanner. Her eyes widened by a bit in surprise, as she saw the red dot from earlier, landing right in the middle of her scanner's map.

"We're at the mountain, stop here!" she yelled out. Speedix immediately heard her and followed his orders, upon seeing a huge pearly-white wall right ahead of them. Speedix grabbed Tails' arm and yelled out "Stop!"

The orange fox reacted by pressing the panic brake, causing most of the team to hit the seat in front of them. When everyone regained themselves, a few of them complaining on the sudden stop, they all looked in front of them. A gigantic, ten-mile tall and widemountain stood in front of them, blocking them from going any further, expect for a path that went along the edge of the mountain's bottom.

"This must be it, everyone out of the snow transport!" Firon ordered his team of Freedom Fighters, getting out of the vehicle with his mission pack on his back. Violet went out after him, staying close to him, with Tails and Speedix getting out next near Violet. Knuckles, along with Rod and Striker, came out last and stood next to Speedix. Everyone equipped themselves with their weapon of choice, with Firon, Speedix, and Knuckles not requiring any weapons, for the two hedgehogs had supersonic speed, while the red echidna had super-powerful strength. Everyone began forming a perfect circle. As soon as the circle was made, Firon walked into the center and turned to look at everyone, who stared back at him.

"Alright, we'll move along the path of the mountain to its peak, then we'll look for a hole in which the chaos emerald is buried in. Let's move out!"
